Noro Yarn
For those new to Noro yarns, the distinctive texture and relatively unprocessed hand can be surprising. The variations and slight unevenness are intentional rather than manufacturing flaws. As Noro explains, "If we make wool yarn, we use various lengths and thicknesses of wool fiber: We want to reproduce the sheep itself in our yarn." This willingness to retain the natural character of the fibers is a hallmark of Noro yarn.
Founded by Eisaku Noro in Japan, Noro is particularly known for its self-striping and gradient yarns, with long, complex color changes inspired by nature. Noro yarns make extensive use of natural fibers including wool, silk, mohair and cotton, with individual collections ranging from multicolor gradients to solid shades.
Among the best-known Noro yarns is Noro Silk Garden, along with a wide range of other wool, silk, cotton and blended yarns. Each line retains Noro's characteristic approach to color and texture.
